This project is part of our service: online store development.

About the project

Kagu is the brand of SIA "Diezgan Svaigi", a small family business in Alsunga parish. It makes freeze-dried products: dry ice cream, pudding, fruit, berries and vegetables. In season, fresh asparagus can also be bought at the farm. We started with a technical specification put together from the client's emails and attachments. While the store was being built, visitors saw a page with the Kagu logo saying the site was in progress. We built the theme from scratch: warm, calm and with short copy, as the client wanted.

Challenges

Shoppers needed to understand what freeze-drying is, and the store had to show up in search for both Latvian terms, "liofilizēts" and "saldējot žāvēts". Asparagus is not sent to parcel lockers, so it needed an information page without a cart. The client runs the store on its own, so the admin side had to be as simple as possible.

Solutions

We imported the catalogue from the client's labelling spreadsheets: about 16 products and variants with weight options and prices including VAT. Photos were converted to WebP. Products use both terms, and the "About Kagu" page explains how freeze-drying works. We connected EveryPay and added a payment check when the shopper returns from the bank, so paid orders don't get stuck waiting for the bank's notification. Gift cards got their own code system with a remaining balance, and checkout has one field for both promo codes and gift cards. The shop dashboard shows orders, new inquiries and products that need attention, and a product can be switched on or off in one click.

Project results

The kagu.lv store runs with three product categories, card payments and delivery to DPD parcel lockers. After the client's feedback we added a benefits block to product descriptions and reworked the asparagus page. The client can add gift sets and new products without our help.
